The USS Eagle, NCC 2185,

A Star Trek Sim / Star Trek RPG

Presents....

OUR STAR TREK SIM GUIDE SERIES

Dice Use For AOL/AIM Chatrooms

If you have not visited our Star Trek Sim General Guide and Star Trek Sim Combat Rules you may wish to do so before continuing.

From time to time " The Adventures of the  USS Eagle", a Star Trek Sim / RPG,  uses dice in the AIM chatroom in which we play our role playing game.

To play this way you type in the code for dice "rolling" in the chatroom and hit send.

The code is as follows:

//roll-dice(NUMBER OF DICE)-sides(NUMBER OF SIDES)

Explanation: You merely type in a number from 1 to 15 for the number of dice you are using and type in a number from 2 to 999 for the number of sides desired on a die. You don't need to worry about how to choose these numbers you will be given instructions in the chatroom right before we play.

The below will show you dice use for part of a space battle:

Aiming and firing are done as separate actions. This gives the person you are playing against time to respond and makes the fight more interesting.

A general example for aiming and firing one weapon at a time with six sided die:

Chatroom Text to Accompany Code
Code for Dice
:Aims one (name weapon) at ( where on enemy ship) of (name enemy ship)::
 NONE
::Fires one (name weapon) at ( where on enemy ship) of (name enemy ship)::
//roll-dice1-sides6

A specific example for aiming and firing one weapon at a time with six sided die:

Let's say you wish to hit the TSF Vindicator' s port shield emitter......

Chatroom Text to Accompany Code
Code for Dice
::Aims one phaser at the port shield emitter of the TSF Vindicator::
 NONE
::Fires one phaser at the port shield emitter of the TSF Vindicator::
//roll-dice1-sides6

Note: The TSF Vindicator is a ship created especially for our Star Trek sim.

Example for firing four weapons simultaneously

If you have four phasers and wish to fire them simultaneously then you would use four dice.

Chatroom Text to Accompany Code
Code for Dice
::Aims one (name weapon) at (where on the enemy ship) of (name enemy ship)::
 NONE
::Fires one (name weapon) at ( where on enemy ship) of (name enemy ship)::
//roll-dice4-sides6

Damage is posted by the CO or the ship that was fired upon.

Do NOT post damage if you are playing the ship that is firing. That is considered "moding". "Moding" comes from the old term in role playing games when a person would put their character into "god mode", meaning make them omnipotent and thus an annoying pain or bore.

Who can use an AIM chatroom?

Anyone can use AIM. You do not need to be an AOL user to use  the chatroom or dice.
