Star Trek Sim/RPG:The USS Eagle, NCC 2185
Crew's Logs: Alexi Valderkev
Subj: Log for Stardate 0410.07

Alexi walked down the corridor, his pack of belongings slung over his shoulder
still. In his mind, in Russian, he repeated to himself over and over
the deck, section, and number of his quarters. His assignment had been
made quickly, and he was hurried along before asking if he had a bunkmate.
Upon reaching the proper door, he input the code he had
punched into the ship's computer just a few minutes before. The door
slid open with a hiss, and he stepped through, and nearly tripped over a
maze of clutter on the floor. He reached over and found the lighting
controls, and raised them from 1/4 to 3/4 intensity, and glanced about.
The room was early quiet, with 2 bunk beds on each wall, about six feet of
space between, and a lavatory and computer terminal crammed into the back
of the room. The beds on the left side of the room looked untouched,
but on the other side of the room, across the sea of clothing, containers,
and what looked like spare parts, the lower bunk was piled high with more
electronics and data padds (the clip board sized ones). The top bunk
had its curtain drawn nearly closed, with a small slit left to allow light
in. Alexi could feel himself being watched, and carefully tip toed
towards the bed to investigate.
Half-way there, he was stopped with a cold "What do you
want?" which made him halt.
"Oh, hello, I vhas just checking to see if someone vas
indeed in there."
"What are you doing in my quarters?" came the next question.
"Vell, these are now my quarters as vell ... I have been
assigned here. My name is Alexi Valderkev, and you?"
"Hanson ... Just don't touch my stuff, keep it quiet,
and try to leave me alone, and this may just be bearable." Alexi then
barely heard him mutter "Can't believe they stuck me with someone ... I just
want to be left alone and do my work"
"Is there some sort of problem, Mr. Hanson?" Alexi asked
politely.
Hanson rolled his eyes "No, just mind the rules I just
laid down ... And I'll let you know if I come up with any more," Hanson smirked
in the darkness of his bunk.
"Wery vell, then I'll lay down a few rules of my own ...
also subject to change," retorted Alexi ... Two could play this game.
"Keep the floor clean near the door, and on my side of the room ... And don't
touch my stuff either. No need to rush on the clean-up, but don't take
too long, please."
"Fine, I'll get on it ... Fair enough."
Alexi turned and began to unpack his belongings, placing
his few civilian clothes into the drawers built into the bunk itself.
He pulled out the retractable night table and placed the image of a gorgeous
Latina woman on it with a smile. He finished unpacking his toiletries
and stowed them. "So," he said, breaking the awkward silence which
Hanson had used to get back to his reading, "Vhat is your first name?"
"Doesn't matter, everyone just calls me Hanson," he responded,
a look of surprise on his face behind the privacy curtain. Nobody had
bothered to try to get to know him, or even his first name before.
"If you really want to know, use the computer."
Alexi shrugged, "I guess Hanson vill do ... Vell,
I need to report to Engineering. Das vidanya," he said, walking for
the door.
As he pressed the button, he heard Hanson chuckle behind
him, and in a knowing and sarcastic tone "Good luck ... You'll need it."
Alexi frowned to himself, wondering what that was about
as he walked out the door. As it hissed shut behind him, Alexi wondered
about his bunkmate ... And if he would be able to stand living with him.
