Guest Alien Logs:Bantos IV- Judy

Title: The Race for Space: Trapped, Part One
Setting: Ruins of the Federation Observation Team, Kappa Kappa Alpha's Base
Location: Bantos IV

Not knowing what else to do, Judy dragged the injured man into the closet and ordered the smaller children in. She squeezed herself in last. She scooped the two up and held them fast and quiet. Then she waited . . . waited for the noises to stop; noises of the whizzing light that makes still, noises of yelling and screaming, noises of the injured and dying.

"What is happening?" she wondered. "Why are these odd people shooting lights at each other? What was this light that makes still and gives burns? Would they find her, the little ones, and their friend?"

Judy shut the door quickly and locked it. Unlike the other children, she was grateful for the darkness that the closet brought, for it meant the absence of the light that kills and the absence of the scene she had just witnessed. She squeezed her young eyes shut trying to erase more of what had happened. The after image of the lights still shown in her retinas making spots and streaks. She shut them tighter until the after images were gone.

She held poor Aldrich and Lulu close to her.

Judy hoped the man with the pointed ears would wake up. He would know what to do. He could get them out of there. If he did not, it would be up to her as it always was. She was the oldest.

Title: The Race for Space: Trapped, Part Two
Setting: Ruins of the Federation Observation Team, Kappa Kappa Alpha's Base
Location: Bantos IV

The noises were gone, but Judy was afraid to look out. She counted for a very long time to try to be sure whoever "they" were had left. Then she peeked out. The scene was horrific. She tried to pretend it was not there and leave the closet but her feet would not move. She told herself that she was stupid to be scared and had to go out and see if it was clear so she could get Lulu and Aldrich back home.

Before Judy left, she told them to stay put. She hoped that Lulu would listen to her, just this once. The five year old was very stubborn. Little Aldrich, she almost hoped would move. He hadn't moved since she told him to freeze and not make a sound.

Judy shut and locked the door and tentatively left the closet. She crawled for a time until she was sure that they were alone. Then she stood up and started to the door. All of a sudden, she heard a loud noise and the door was ripped off. She ran back to the closet and glanced over her shoulder. A garan had ripped through the protective door.

She knew that the garans preferred dead to live food but she ran as fast as she could back to the closet. Lulu fumbled with the lock and opened it just in time before the animal saw them and their secret hiding place.

Title: The Race for Space: Trapped, Part Three
Setting: Ruins of the Federation Observation Team, Kappa Kappa Alpha's Base
Location: Bantos IV

The animal made a lot of noise as it devoured and ravaged the hidden base. It did a good job of erasing much of the evidence of a firefight.

The children huddled together and tried in vain to wake the man that had saved them earlier. Then it was quiet. But Judy would not go out and look. Not yet. She knew that the garans usually traveled in pairs. It would go out most likely into the forest and look for its mate or child and bring them back here to feast on what was left. She shuddered.

Instead of the noise of two beasts entering the room as she expected, Judy heard footsteps. Her heart sank. She'd rather face the garans than the people with the killing light. She whispered for Lulu to stay still and quiet and prayed that these bad men would not find them after having missed them earlier.
