CAPTAIN'S LOGS
Title: More Questions Than Answers: Countdown to Armageddon
Location: The USS Eagle
Setting: The Turethian Ambassador Releth's Quarters
The intercom buzzed. A man's voice
announced, "Captain, the Protectress should be dropping out of warp soon."
"On my way, he said tapping the intercom.
"My apologies Ambassador. I need to
calm them down and break the news to them about the Empress."
"How is she?" the Ambassador asked.
He needed to know but did not want to broach the subject earlier.
"She may regain consciousness, but is
not expected to live." Nouri tried to say without emotion. He was not very
successful.
As much as Ambassador Releth hated the
Galadonese Empress, he did feel sympathetic for the young man that had been
beguiled by her and ensnared in her bizarre ritual. The older man had wanted
to say that to the young Captain but knew better. With all his years of experience,
he knew that sometimes people had to find things out for themselves. Sometimes
the hard way was the only way.
"You are sure she really wants peace?"
Ambassador Releth asked still skeptical.
"Yes, with all my heart I know it,"
Nouri said sadly and turned to leave. "You both are the key to peace with
your people. I hope you can both work out an agreement before it is too late.
