In the Star Trek sim , the USS Eagle, we play a variety of characters from different cultures and different worlds. A sim is an online role playing game. Ours is played in a chatroom. We type in text and play characters in a story.

 This is a page for the Chief Engineer's family and culture.  It is written as if she posted it. She is full blooded Russian and loathes cooking. Cooking for her is punching in some codes into the food processor or asking the Chef to make something for her when she is home sick. Of course, our head strong CENG won't admit it.

The recipe remains unchanged for centuries even though there are no can goods, Campbell soups or Good Season's Italian Dressing mixes in 2293.

Halupki: Russian Cabbage Rolls

Ask your cook to do the following:


1 Large head of green cabbage
2 Onions chopped into 12ths
1 Onions finely chopped
3 cloves Garlic finely chopped
2 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Garlic salt
1/8 tsp sugar
3 cups rice
1.5 lbs lean ground beef
1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
1.5 can tomato paste (6oz)
1 can cooked tomatoes (28oz)
0.5 packet (0.35 oz)Good Seasons Italian Dressing Mix
0.25 cups rinsed sauerkraut (Run cold water over it in a colander)
0.50 tablespoon Sauerkraut "juice"
Basil *
Oregano *
Salt *
Pepper *

* to taste


Prepare Leaves
1. Core cabbage head.
2. Put cabbage head in boiling water until the leaves start to separate from the head

Make Filling
1. Cook 3 cups of white rice
2. Saute hamburger and finely chopped onions until cooked and brown. (Add tiny amount of vegetable oil if needed)
3. Mix rice and hamburger mixture and set aside
4. Add salt and pepper to taste

Make Sauce
1. Saute large pieces of onions and finely chopped garlic in oil
2. Add all remaining tomato products and half of the chopped tomatoes
3. Add Good Seasons Mix, Basil, Oregano
4. Stir
5. Cook for 1 hour
6. Let Cool

Assemble the rolls
1. Add some sauce to rice and hamburger mixture to moisten 2. Put cabbage leaf on clean surface with part closest to the core closest to you
3. Add filling and roll the cabbage up
4. Repeat until you run out of mixture or leaves


1. Line the bottom of a 9X13 pan with rinsed sauerkraut
2. Add rolls
3. Add saurkraut "juice" to remaining sauce
4. Cover rolls with sauce
5. Bake at 325 for 1.5 hours
